Kevin Markham is a principal scientist and an audit team member with Aster Global.
In this role, Mr. Markham utilizes his more than 33 years of experience to assist with and conduct desktop and field validation and verification of Agriculture, Forestry, and other Land Use (AFOLU) carbon offset projects including community, biodiversity, and sustainable development standards.
As a field scientist, he brings unique and varied experiences from projects and cultures around the world including Africa, Southwest Pacific, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean and applies those experiences to facilitate onsite validation and verification projects. He has a strong focus on audits for social and biodiversity benefits and safeguards components of projects.
Kevin also provides subject matter expertise in the areas of coastal and marine ecosystems. His extensive experience providing support for the federal Clean Water Act, Coastal Area Management Act, National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act along with many years of related consulting and technical writing allow him to support Aster Global Environmental Solution’s clients with unique projects – specifically those related to Blue Carbon.

Mr. Markham has worked on projects in the carbon offset market since 2012 including performing the technical review of the Methodology for Coastal Wetland Creation proposed for VCS Approval Process, VCS Standard, VCS Program Guide, and VCS AFOLU Requirements. Most recently, he has worked on projects under the VCS and CCB programs, SD VISta, Climate Action Reserve, ART TREES, and Nori.
