Janice McMahon President, Aster Global Environmental Solutions Janice McMahon is an owner and President of Aster Global Environmental Solutions where she is responsible for client and team coordination, proposal preparation and review, maintenance of Aster Global’s ANAB accreditation and Management System, and QA/QC for GHG validation and verification projects around the world. As an experienced and recognized thought leader in the areas of validation and verification of GHG compliance and climate change mitigation and reporting, Ms. McMahon also serves as a unique resource to Aster Global’s international clientele by providing education and insights related to the ever changing carbon marketplace. She also leads lectures and seminars throughout the United States and internationally regarding the carbon markets and the processes and value derived from conducting accredited third-party GHG emissions offset project and emissions inventory validations & verifications. Ms. McMahon has over 24 years of experience in ecology, wildlife biology, forestry, natural resources, GHG emissions inventory and reduction projects, & GHG validations/verifications, and large scale project management. She specializes in:
  • Natural resource management projects
  • Carbon sequestration feasibility assessments
  • Management plans for ecosystem enhancement
  • GHG emissions and reduction assessments

She is a Certified Wildlife Biologist under The Wildlife Society (TWS) guidelines, an ISO 14064/14065 trained lead verifier, ICAO trained CORSIA verifier, and was a CSA Standards Certified GHG Verifier and Inventory Quantifier. She has conducted over 80 organizational-level GHG emissions verifications within Canada and has provided technical review and/or QA/QC on 200+ AFOLU offset projects and methodology assessments for VCS, CCB, CAR, ACR, ARB and SD VISta. Ms. McMahon has often led Aster Global to be one of the first accredited verifiers to be awarded or to complete projects including:
  • a large scale Agricultural Land Management (ALM) project
  • a Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) project with the World Bank
  • an Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART) project
  • the first REDD+ project validation under Japan’s Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)

GHG Validation and Verification Experience

Ms. McMahon has been conducting third-party validations and verification since 2007 and the company has been accredited by ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).  under the ISO standards previously identified since March 2010. Ms. McMahon has been the Lead Verifier on over 50 organizational-level GHG inventory verifications (BC and TCR) and has provided technical review or QA/QC on 100+ AFOLU offset projects and methodology assessments for VCS, CCB, CAR, ACR, ARB and NFS.
