
As a Principal Scientist and Senior Auditor for Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Nancy Wellhausen focuses on climate services, corporate responsibility, energy efficiency projects, organizational-level verifications, and offset project validation/verification from industrial manufacturing to ecosystems services sectors.
Ms. Wellhausen 30+ years’ experience in air quality and analytical chemistry and 20+ years’ experience in air quality and pollution prevention (P2) programs. Specific projects include: air quality compliance (permitting and environmental documentation), technical studies to reduce air emissions from stationary and mobile sources, and alternative technology and fuel evaluation and use studies. Past assignments included air quality scientist, lead chemist for analytical laboratory inorganic department, and technical advisor to several military working groups in air quality and environmental regulations. Ms. Wellhausen has been responsible for evaluating processes for control technology applicability, permit development, emission source testing, emission estimation and inventory, and pollutant modeling. Ms. Wellhausen served as the technical QA/QC officer for CEMS and ambient monitoring sites throughout her career.
Ms. Wellhausen is a lead verifier for: California Air Resources Board (ARB), The Climate Registry (TCR), Alberta Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Regulation (TIER) and the Specified Gas Reporting Regulation (SGRR), British Columbia Greenhouse Gas Industrial Reporting and Control Act (GGIRCA) using The Western Climate Initiative (WCI) for both reporting emissions and verifying offset emissions from project development. Under these programs, Ms. Wellhausen analyzes scientific and analytical data to determine compliance with reporting requirements.
Prior to joining Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Ms. Wellhausen has held a number of positions at industry leading companies. She previously served as the program manager for ENVVEST - an emission reduction program under DOD. This program reduced stationary source emission through technology development. Numerous federal and state awards were granted under this innovative program.
In addition to air quality technical services, Ms. Wellhausen served as the program manager for a very successful Mentor-Protégé relationship between Tetra Tech, small business, and the Department of Defense (DOD). The nationally recognized program and winner of the 2004 Nunn-Perry Award facilitated small business growth and diversify through the addition of contract mechanisms and services offered to DOD.
