Hunter Holeman

Project Forester

Hunter Holeman Project Forester with Aster Global

Hunter Holeman is a field forester and audit team member with Aster Global.

In these roles, Mr. Holeman assists with and conducts desktop and field validation and verification of Agriculture, Forestry, and other Land Use (AFOLU) carbon offset projects including community, biodiversity standards. His work currently includes a focus on Improved Forest Management (IFM), Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD), and Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR) projects. He has served as an audit team member for American Carbon Registry, Verified Carbon Standard and California Air Resources Board (ARB).

As a project forester, Mr. Holeman works to facilitate onsite validation and verification of projects using best practice techniques for conducting AFOLU re-sampling and field audit activities. He has a strong focus on carbon accounting, growth modeling, optimization models, and disturbance risk analysis.

Most recently, Mr. Holeman has been actively working on several audit teams for projects in the VERRA Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), American Carbon Registry (ACR), and California Air Resources Board (ARB) programs or methodologies.

Prior to joining Aster Global, Mr. Holeman held positions which contributed to his overall knowledge of forestry sampling practices. As an Assistant Forest Manager he worked to sustainably manage forest lands by prescribing effective logging practices, implementing fire mitigation plans, and maximizing sustainable yields. He also developed prescriptions and monitoring procedures for varied silvicultural research projects across Oregon’s diverse forest types. Mr. Holeman has been recognized as a leader with the Oregon Society of American Foresters for his efforts and results in revitalizing local membership, enhancing student professional development, and strengthening state chapter ties with various organizations.
