
Diego Olivera is a Senior Forester and Auditor for Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Inc., with over 14 years work experience. Mr. Olivera specializes in GHG offset project validations and verifications, community and biodiversity assessments, and ecosystem services assessment and planning. He has several years of experience as a Validator/Verifier for numerous carbon registries, programs and jurisdictions, which enabled him to conduct the audits of many agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) emission reduction/removal and community and biodiversity projects with a focus in Latin America.
At Aster Global, Mr. Olivera is responsible for conducting technical review services such as GHG offset project validations/verifications, community and biodiversity monitoring and assessment, stakeholder engagement, forest inventories, vegetative community characterizations, and carbon project feasibility assessments.
His extensive field experience and knowledge of the specific protocols, methodologies, and standards within each GHG program coupled with his innate ability to switch from a big picture perspective to a detailed view, allows him to effectively understand and meet specific and nuanced project requirements and milestones. Mr. Olivera also has expertise in the areas of legal and ownership review, eligibility, additionality, and applicability related to the validation and verification.
Mr. Oliver is fluent in four languages (Spanish, Portuguese, English, and German.
Prior to joining Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Mr. Olivera held several positions directly related to the creation, operation and auditing of GHG sequestration projects in Latin America. Additional experiences range from wildlife monitoring in the field, to researching commodities and their impact on deforestation around the world, to managing communications with accreditation bodies and registries.
His most recent experiences are with validation, verification and post-assessments of different project types including VCS, national results-based payments, ALM, REDD+, ARR, IFM and JREDD+ in Brazil, Argentina, Guatemala, Paraguay, and the Peruvian Amazon. Most recently, Mr. Olivera has completed projects in the following project categories; Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR), Agricultural Land Management (ALM), Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD), Jurisdictional REDD+ (JREDD+), and Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB).
