
Caris Lyons is an environmental scientist, GIS specialist, and audit team member with Aster Global.
In these roles, Ms. Lyons assists with and conducts desktop and field validation and verification of Agriculture, Forestry, and other Land Use (AFOLU) carbon offset projects including community, biodiversity, and sustainable development standards. She has served as an audit team member for American Carbon Registry (ACR), Climate Action Reserve (CAR) soil enrichment projects, and for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) projects through VCS. Her work currently includes a focus on Improved Forest Management (IFM), Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD), and Agricultural Land Management (ALM) projects around the world including Community and Biodiversity aspects and sustainable development goals.
Prior to joining Aster Global Environmental Solutions as a full-time team member, Ms. Lyons served as an intern for one year while completing her Master of Geographic Information Science Degree. During her internship, she focused on Organizational-Level Verifications primarily in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, Canada.
Ms. Lyons has worked across multiple project types and protocols as an audit team and verification team member. In addition to Agriculture, Forestry, and other Land Use (AFOLU) projects, she has served many clients in the Canadian provinces working on Organization-Level Verifications.
Most recently, Ms. Lyons has worked on carbon offset validation/verification projects under a variety of protocols including Plan Vivo, ACR, Verra, Climate Action Reserve (CAR), California Air Resource Board (ARB), and the World Bank Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF). Specifically, Ms. Lyons has worked as an audit team member on projects utilizing VCS VM0007, VM0045, VM0012, AR-ACM0003, and VM0047 methodologies, as well as the Climate Action Reserve's Soil Enrichment Protocol. She has also worked extensively within the VCS CCB Standard and the Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta). Additionally, Ms. Lyons has worked on ARB Compliance Offset Protocol US Forest Projects.
