Caitlin Sellers is the Manager, Forestry Validation & Verification and Lead AFOLU Auditor for Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Inc. In this role, Ms. Sellers is responsible for AFOLU Validation/Verification projects, with her primary focus on ensuring efficient and effective project reviews, resulting in high-quality and timely deliverables for external clients.
With over 18 years of experience in forestry, GHG emissions reduction/removal projects, ecology, community assessment and engagement, wetland assessment and mitigation, and natural resource management, Ms. Sellers specializes in GHG offset project validations and verifications, community and biodiversity assessments, and ecosystem services assessment and planning. She has several years of experience as a Certified Forester and Lead Validator/Verifier for numerous carbon registries, programs and jurisdictions, which enable her to conduct GHG validations/verifications of many AFOLU emission reduction/removal projects in the United States and around the world.
Her extensive knowledge of the specific protocols, methodologies, and standards within each GHG program allows her to effectively understand and meet specific and nuanced project requirements and milestones. Ms. Sellers also has expertise in the areas of legal and ownership review, eligibility, additionality, and applicability related to the validation and verification of project elements.
Prior to joining Aster Global Environmental Solutions, Ms. Sellers was a senior forester/senior wetland scientist and lead verifier. Her specific focus was on wetlands and wildlife delineation, protection, mitigation, and permitting at the state and federal level. She was also part of a company that was one of the first to be accredited under ANAB for ISO 14065-3.
Over her career, she has worked extensively on project validation and verifications under the following Programs: Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF); Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART); Plan Vivo; Verra, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta), and Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA); California Air Resources Board (ARB); Climate Action Reserve (CAR); and American Carbon Registry (ACR). Ms. Sellers has completed projects in; Improved Forest Management (IFM), Wetlands Restoration and Conservation (WRC), Agricultural Land Management (ALM), Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD and REDD+), and Avoided Conversion (AC).
