Bright Kumordzi PhDn Project Forester / Audit Team Member with Aster Global

Bright Kumordzi is a project forester and audit team member with Aster Global.

In these roles, Dr. Kumordzi assists with and conducts desktop and field validation and verification of Agriculture, Forestry, and other Land Use (AFOLU) carbon offset projects including community, biodiversity, and sustainable development standards. His work currently includes a focus on Agricultural Land Management (ALM), Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR), Livestock, and Community and Biodiversity aspects for projects around the world.

As a project forester, Dr. Kumordzi works to facilitate validation and verification using best practice methods for conducting audits.

Dr. Kumordzi is an experienced Ecologist with over a decade of expertise in ecological study design, environmental consulting, and project management. He is proficient in leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing field surveys, and developing sustainable land-use strategies across diverse landscapes, including Sub-Saharan Africa and Canada. Dr. Kumordzi is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a proven track record of stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and delivering impactful ecological solutions. Some of his specific skills include GIS, remote sensing and ecological monitoring.

Prior to joining Aster Global, Dr. Kumordzi held several positions directly related to both the development and auditing of multiple carbon offset projects. His experience includes developing feasibility studies for a 1.2m ha REDD+ initiative and a 5,000 ha ARR project in Mozambique, Africa. He also played a key role in the development of 25,000 ha Community Resource Management Areas (CREMAs) and the restoration of 10,000ha of degraded land through Farmer Managed Natural Resource Regeneration (FMNR) schemes in Northern Ghana. Dr. Kumordzi was also the Lead Ecologist for the Development of a National Miombo Woodland Management Strategy for Southeast Angola.

Dr. Kumordzi works on a variety of projects with Aster Global’s clients including Improved Forest Management, Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD), Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation, Livestock, and Agricultural Land Management (ALM) projects worldwide including Community and Biodiversity components and sustainable development goals. He also serves as an audit team member for Climate Action Reserve (CAR) soil enrichment projects and for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) and livestock projects under Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program.
